If there are some things that need to change in the program to help Chinese users, please let me know. For example, is there a special directory found only on Chinese phones that should have photos downloaded from it (or ignored)?
Version 0.9.24 (not yet released) will work better with the Ubuntu Kylin file manager peony. Ubuntu 20.04 has version 0.9.22 of Rapid Photo Downloader (there is currently no snap for Rapid Photo Downloader). To get the latest version in any version of Ubuntu 16.04 or newer, you can install it from here using a special install script. It’s not an ideal way to get it, but it works okay:
As you can see, this program needs some work done on its Chinese translation. If you want to help translate it to Chinese, you can do so here:
I am the developer of Peony, and we’d like to provide a help for the localization.

Actually there might be some special customization in phones… I’ll pay atention. Maybe at first we should make the project full translated and put it in to our app store, then wait for user’s feedback.

I’m glad to hear that. I have installed rapid-photo-downloader in focal, and trying install the latest version with your scripts… It is not so convience because some limitations. Ofcours I found many places not translated, those might be most urgent cases.

BTW, we had a telegram group recently. I recommend you contact us with the telegram (although I’m not in it;Pdfefe), it’s more friendly for one who is non-chinese speaking. Our telegram is:
I’m very happy to read your post, thank you. If I understand your message correctly, in Ubuntu Kylin you add packages to the Kylin app store independently of Ubuntu Software. If that means version 0.9.24 could make it into the Kylin app store, that would be great. In that case, Chinese users would not need to rely on install script. Obviously then the most important translations need to occur in the program itself, not the install.py or the upgrade.py scripts.
I agree that a good approach would be to have the main program fully translated and in the hands of users, and we can await their feedback regarding any needs specific to phones used in China.
It’s a wonderful feeling to know that Chinese users will be able to use the program.

That’s right. We provide a relatively independent archive[0] and welcome to upstream author contributing a project to us directly. It will be more flexible for us.
I perfer to import latest version of the project. That may require a more detailed discussion about how to. Also both translation jobs of release in focal and 0.9.24 should be planned. So I perfer you start a topic in our mailing list[1], or use IRC channel[2] for conmunication if we’re online.
